privacy & your data

Margot is a UK brand. We handle personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. This page explains exactly what we hold when you join the waitlist.

What we collect

Only your first name and email address, plus the date and time you joined and which form you used. Nothing else — no address, no payment details, no sensitive categories of data.

Why we hold it (lawful basis)

Consent. You give it by submitting the waitlist form, and we record the moment you did. We use it solely to tell you when the debut collection launches and to invite you to launch events and founding member perks. We never sell or share your data with third parties for their own marketing.

How it is stored

Your details are stored in an encrypted, access-controlled database (encrypted in transit over HTTPS and at rest). The waitlist table is locked down by row-level security: the public can only add an entry, and only authenticated Margot administrators can read it. Email addresses are stored once — duplicates are rejected.

Email tracking

Our emails contain a small invisible image and tracked links, so we can see whether an email was opened and whether a link in it was followed. We record only the fact, the time and which link — never your location, device or anything you do elsewhere. This helps us send fewer, better emails. Blocking images in your email app, or asking us to delete your record, stops it.

How long we keep it

Until the debut collection launches and you have been invited, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. If you unsubscribe or ask for erasure, we remove your record.

Processors we use

Our hosting and database provider, and our transactional email provider, process data on our behalf under data processing terms. We also use privacy-conscious analytics to count page views and signups in aggregate.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop using it at any time. You can also withdraw consent at any time — that is as simple as asking to be removed. If you are unhappy with how we respond, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the form on our homepage. We respond within one month.
